SOTD “Mandragore Pourpre

“Mandragore Pourpre” by Annick Goutal.

Although it’s described as masculine fragrance I love it on my skin. Strong opening notes of anise and pepper quickly turning to something mossy, earthy, and in good way dirty fragrance. Very mysterious and sensual perfume.

Scent is reminiscent a vision of early 1900s- Saloon, rustles of Victorian dresses, cigares… I think this could be perfume of Mata Hari – professional exotic dancer and provocative courtesan, who became a spy for France during World War I.

Makes me wonder if there is any street in France named after her?
