Today, I received sad news. Alexander Neumivakin – famous artist of my hometown has died. He was 83 years old. Not sure that Covid 19 was the reason but his heart just stopped.
His paintings have greatly influenced my view on contemporary art. I remember what I thought when I saw his work at the exhibition – how could anyone draw like that?
He often was teaching kids in the studio. His personality was as unique as very artistic. You wouldn’t confuse him with driver or doctor, he looked exactly like a quintessential artist! Beret, scarf around the neck…etc
He believed that an artist must be free from academic dogmas. He always praised Rembrandt Kandinsky, Rublev, Miro.
RIP Teacher.
