Old New Year

To all other Russian weird tradition besides New Year we also celebrate Old New Year as well!

What’s Old New Year?

“The Old New Year or the Orthodox New Year is an informal traditional holiday, celebrated as the start of the New Year by the Julian calendar. In the 20th and 21st centuries, the Old New Year falls on January 14 in the Gregorian calendar. ”

I have no idea why it still need to be celebrated 🤷🏻‍♀️ Like Russian need more holidays… whole country going on vacation for 14 days!(Although I wouldn’t mind though 😉) but tradition is tradition!

So after many other holidays – Old New Year celebrates in very lazy way because people tired of extra dining and extra drinking. Like no more strength left but we need to!
